On June 10-11, 2026, Marta Yatsyshyn, a representative of Caritas Ukraine, participated in a two-day workshop on the co-creation of a Knowledge Platform for the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH), which took place in Kyiv.
The workshop brought together representatives of humanitarian and civil society organizations to discuss current approaches to SEAH prevention in Ukraine, identify strengths and gaps, and jointly develop practical and context-sensitive prevention tools.
The SEAH Prevention Knowledge Platform is a global initiative implemented by UNFPA and the Global Women’s Institute with financial support from the European Union. Its goal is to bridge the gap in prevention and help humanitarian organizations not only respond to violations but also prevent harm before it occurs.
During the workshop, participants worked on approaches to safe programming, mitigating SEAH risks in the process of assistance delivery, as well as changing organizational norms and culture that can influence risks of abuse of power. Particular attention was paid to localization, the participation of local organizations, and consideration of the real operational context.
Participation in such professional platforms is important for Caritas Ukraine, as it allows strengthening its internal safeguarding system, exchanging practices with other organizations, and contributing to the development of tools that can be useful for the humanitarian sector in Ukraine.
